From track stand competitions to alley cats and drag racing, Team Peach Cycling was formed to help break down barriers for more girls and women to enter cycling. The LA based cycling team was founded by and is comprised of a diverse bunch of badass female cyclists. Noemi Soto started the team as a way to introduce, support, and encourage more girls and women to get on their bikes. The result is a growing and evolving team involved in several sectors of the industry with a great excitement for the 2022 Season to get started. We caught up with Noemi to talk more about her journey.

"Five colors for each member. An icon to match everyone’s personality. Zodiac signs for every member on peach cycling. And that sunset color-way finish for all the sunset rides together." Team Peach FR-C Pro Bibs shown above.

How did you get started with cycling? How old were you?

I started racing when I was 17 on a fixed gear, it was mostly track stand competitions, alley cats, and drag racing. At the time there wasn’t many women so I always tried my best to keep up with the boys. By the time I was 19 I had attended my first Mission Crit, Red Hook and Wolfpack hustle.

How did that passion develop?

At first I used cycling as a transport for school. I had just started high school so I wasn’t allowed to drive. As time went by I started to meet other riders and joined them for group rides around the city. I was so fascinated with fixed geared and the lifestyle. LA definitely influenced me to be the person I am today.

What drove you to start Team Peach?

I wanted to help inspire other women to give cycling a chance. I feel like coming into this sport there isn’t much support if you are new to the community. Girls can be territorial in some cases. So we wanted to create a safe place to grow and learn.

How has the team developed since you started it?

When I first started the team the goal was to guide and give advice to new riders coming into the sport. Over the past years I’ve watched the ladies grow in the cycling community. Whether it’s in racing or building the community they have definitely impacted the many new riders and we hope to see the field grow for the new season.

What is it like to be a pro-muter in LA?

What I think a promuter is, someone who is actively a racer but also uses commuting as a form of training. Moving to LA from the valley was definitely a change, people are always in a hurry and aren’t so patient here. My only transportation is my bike so my handling skills have gotten better and faster that’s a good thing I could say ahaha.

What kind of racing are you planning to do this season?

My plans for racing include track, fixed gear crits and road racing. I also recently built my engine 11 dirtee so endurance gravel races are on my bucket list.

What does a dream racing season look like?

My dream race season is being able to have a full women’s field in all race categories. I think the ladies have done a great job communicating/ riding with new cyclists. The community is definitely expanding!

Tell us about your kit design and what inspired it?

So, let me tell you guys a lil bit about the meaning behind our new kit with Giordana. Peaches is turning 3 soon and I can’t begin to express how much peaches means to me and how proud I am of my girls. I know it’s difficult working , training, school , commuting via bike and racing so this ones for my peaches. I was inspired by the Powerpuff girls , these ladies are strong, brave and resilient. Five colors for each member. An icon to match everyone’s personality. Zodiac signs for every member on peach cycling. And that sunset color-way finish for all the sunset rides together.

Where is your favorite place to ride in LA or the nearby area?

I moved to LA a year ago so a quick 10 mile Griffith loop does the trick for sub-hour rides.

Favorite training ride snack?

Definitely gummies and ginger soft drops, I’ve got a sweet tooth guilty.

What is your dream for the Peach Blossoms and how did that come about?

Peach blossoms will be the development team (B-team) for peaches, we wanna start this team for other ladies wanting to get into racing and need guidance. We also want to be able to give jr’s the opportunity to show the world (what) they can do. I believe sisterhood is important and having teammates by your side always makes everything easier.
