Giordana chamois are designed to work without creams, thanks to a stretchable microfiber layer that sits next to the skin. This advanced material ensures optimal breathability and moisture wicking to keep you dry and comfortable throughout your ride.
Fit is essential: wearing bibs or shorts that are too loose—or older garments that have relaxed over time—can allow the chamois to shift, causing friction and irritation. A proper, snug fit keeps the chamois in place so it can function as intended.
Chamois creams, balms, and butters are unnecessary—and not recommended—with our OmniForm chamois. These products can block the breathable structure of the microfiber, reducing its ability to manage moisture and heat. Historically, creams were developed for leather chamois, which needed to be softened to prevent cracking and chafing. Today’s microfibers are a different technology entirely.
Our microfiber chamois lightly bond to the skin during your ride, allowing them to move with you and eliminate friction. Creams interfere with this process by creating a slippery surface, increasing the risk of chafing. Over time, regular use of creams can even soften the skin and make it more prone to abrasion.
If you choose to use a product occasionally, apply only a small amount directly to the skin—never to the chamois itself—and let it fully absorb before dressing.
